Captian Mic

So long story short....Micah had 3 merit badges left to earn his Eagle Scout Award. To pass 2 of them off he drove the truck and boat up to Pineview with me and the girls and a willing friend to get his water sports badge and his motor boating badge.

It was a sunny day and everyone enjoyed the water.

Micah proved to be a very good driver and Captain...thanks for a fun and safe day of boating.

And he also backed the boat into the spot on the side of our house...that is very very small...with no mishaps!!! Go Captain MIC!!!

Dumb and Dumber

Or maybe I should say Harry and Lloyd meet the incredible Hulk???


These two showed up to my house looking like they were from another planet. They had a green huge to them. When I asked what on earth happened and where their clothes were....they said they got a call from some girls saying they got their jeep was stuck and they needed someone to come pull them out.

So of course Chris and Micah answered the call and took our truck up to the dikes and "saved" the ladies in distress. In doing so they got entirely muddy and had to undress to drive home so they wouldn't get in trouble for getting the seats in the truck muddy. I had to hose the two of them off and all of their clothes forever before they looked recognizable!


I guess this is what a knight in shining...I mean muddy armor looks like?

Boating

Axel had to be tested to make sure he could officially be adopted into the family. His test was to see if he likes water and boating as well as all the rest of the family.

He is still a little unsure...but he passed the test

Nothing better than driving the boat on a hot summer day!

Because the water was so high this year....the girls were able to enjoy the rope swing almost all summer....notice the stairs someone carved into the dirt to help get up.

4th of July 2011

My Mom has the best seats for the 4th of July Parade...under a huge shade tree right by the sidewalk....Meredith and I sat in the sun with her nifty umbrella.

Payton and Riley collected the candy supply for us for the day...they even threw out otter pops!!! NICE!!!

My Mom shocked us all and walked over to the park after the parade to see the festivities at the park.

I loved the 4th was so nice and very fun!

June 2011

We stayed at a cabin near Rockport Reservoir for our fist summer outing in June.

It took some convincing and a wet suit but Mariah and Micah both wake boarded

It took no convincing for the girls...they loved riding the tube with Bubba and Ace and Axel have also taken a turn on the tube as well.

I was so happy to have time away from work and home with my family

That was the very best part!

Summer went by like a flash!

In February.....



Mariah turned 19...WOW!!

Riley turned 10 and got to treat her and a friend to mani/pedi's



In April we adopted a new baby...his name is Axel and he is 1 yr old....Ace loves him....as the kids said....Mom, "every boy needs a puppy....let's adopt him for Ace."...I was weak!



Payton turned 12 and is in Young Women and has been working hard on Personal Progress and went to girls camp this summer!



Micah asked a girl...yes a real girl to PROM!!!!

we wrapped up the school year with soccer tournaments and a dance recital....more updates on summer to come.

1923-2011

“Bob”

Robert Meredith Carlson passed away early in the morning on Jan. 18, 2011 he was 87. Bob was born on Jan. 25, 1923 in Provo, Utah to Oscar W. and Hazel A. Carlson. He was raised in Provo where he attended Provo High School and Brigham Young High School. He served in the islands of the South Pacific during World War II. He married Karma Rae Richardson on Nov. 29, 1946 in Las Vegas, Nev. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He is survived by his wife Karma Rae Carlson; four children Steven C. Carlson, Meredith Anne (Robert) Gibson, Brenda Rae (Derek) Mehl and Karrie Lyn (Troy) Carlson; a brother Fred (Gay) Carlson and a sister Elaine (LaMar) Fillmore; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends and family who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Bill Carlson; and a sister Beth (Charles) Johnson.

Throughout his young life and beyond he helped worked with his Dad and other family members at Carlson's Sporting Goods in Provo. He later was a manager for a bookkeeping company in Salt Lake City and Sacramento California. Throughout his life he enjoyed almost every outdoor activity including; swimming and rafting down the Provo River, spending time at his family's cabin in Vivian Park, ice skating on Utah Lake, skiing, hunting, fishing, boating and camping. He instilled in all of his children and grandchildren a love of the outdoors and a sense of adventure. He had a great love for cars and could fix anything with a motor.

He spent much of his retirement and later years serving in the LDS Church as a ward clerk, home teacher and filled assignments at the cannery and as a veil worker at the Bountiful Temple. He was seen many times on Saturdays at little league football games or other events in a suit and tie either coming from or going to his temple assignment. He had a great love for his family and did all he could do to support them in the many various concerts, games, plays, school activities and events they participated in. He will be forever missed, loved and remembered.

Funeral services are closed casket and will be held at 11 a.m on Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at Lindquist Mortuary 727 North 400 East, Bountiful Utah. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the funeral services beginning at 10 a.m.

What I Hated and Learned in 2010

Hated

• My husband losing his job to corporate downsizing
• The sucky economy
• The personal financial crisis that followed the job loss
• Selling my car
  
• Going back to work full-time
• Missing out on Thursdays with my friends
• My Dad going to a care center
  
• Not being able to play tennis as much as I would like
• Constantly being tired
• Keeping a house while working full-time
• Feeling out of touch with my old life
• Not having four wheel drive anymore
  

Learned

• My Heavenly Father shows me daily affirmations and blessings in my life that let me know He is aware of my problems and loves me
• I can still find a great job that pays good after being out of the work force for 11 years
• The law of tithing is really real
  
• I can do hard things
• After 20 Years of marriage and all the ups and downs...We will make it no matter what
  
• Hearing and reading in texts the words "I Love You Mom" from my kids and husband
• My own personal financial problems are only temporary and will be fixed
• The importance of driving a car you pay cash for
  
• It is never too late for your husband to go back to school even after being out for more than 18 years
• That your kids may actually listen and can function successfully in "real life"
  
• My family can step up with house work and taking care of each other while I work
  
• Watching your son play varsity football and hearing his name on the PA system is AWESOME!
  
• Watching my girls play soccer is one of the BEST things ever
  
• Being with good friends is truly a blessing
  
• Having My Parents with me is a blessing I will not always have on this earth, but eternal families are!
  
• When all your own efforts are exhausted and it seems there is no good solution to a problem...your prayers are usually answered through another person
