The River Wild!!!

I wish I had pictures to post, but as you are about to read we barley survived this ordeal!

This past summer on the way home from camping up by Coalville we stopped in Henefer to raft the Weber River. We only had a 4 person raft so me, Mariah, Micah, and Payton went down the river. Troy drove down to the stopping point with Riley to wait for us. It was soo fun and we all had a great time. We went under 4 bridges and hit some fun rapids and made it safely to the stopping point where Troy was waiting. We decided we need to come again with our old 2 person tube that we pulled behind our boat so we could all float the river together.

So about 2 weeks later for family night we drove 2 cars up and left one at the stopping point and drove the other car 3 miles up to the starting point. We we felt very prepared....we all had life jackets on, we'd been down here before and knew what to expect....NOT! I went in the tube with Micah and Payton and Troy, Mariah and Riley went in the raft. They left us in the dust....for some reason the tube just couldn't keep up to the raft and it was definitely harder to steer. So it was just me and my two kids and on the first big rapid we tipped over and Payton went under the tube and got spit out over by the edge. My leg got stuck on a branch that was underwater and I couldn't keep my head above the water and Micah held on to the tube which had a cloth cover that got stuck on one of the rocks that created the rapid that tipped us over. I got my foot unstuck and swam to Payton and then Micah had to lift the tube of of the rock it was stuck on and he floated down to us. Payton was terrified and I assured her the worst was over and told her to get back on the tube. I takes about and hour and a half to float the entire distance...and let's just say that was just the begging of our ordeal. By the time all of us got to the stopping point We had tipped over 2 more times and I finally had to just hold on to the tube while Micah and Payton were in it to guide it with my legs as best I could to miss all the low branches and rapids. We finally caught up with Troy and the other kids towards the end and put Payton in the raft with him, but we all still had the last huge rapid at the end to conquer! Let's just say that by the time we were done Riley and Payton had opted to swim to the edge of the river and walk the last 200 yards to the stopping point because Troy got them stuck on the rapid and popped the raft (we was still trying to paddle as the raft was deflating). Our tube also popped and was almost flat by the time we got out of the river. I had bruises, scrapes and cuts all over my legs for weeks! Now Payton and Riley say they never want to river raft again....I wonder why?!!!
