I went to Springville for my annual pilgrimage to pick up some hanging baskets. I took my Mom along for the ride. On the way home we stopped in Provo and she showed me where my parents first home was and one of the homes where my Grandparents lived and the old store front for Carlson's Sporting Goods. My Dad and his father ran that store for 52 years on University Ave. in Provo. It was very educational for me because I wasn't born when they lived there and I don't remember anything about Provo or the sporting goods store or even my Grandpa Carlson because he died before I was born. My Mom told me that when he died the viewing line for his viewing went out of Berg Mortuary spanned two blocks and then wrapped the corner. I'm sure he was a totally awesome man....my family tells really great stories about him.
My parents first house...my Mom said it cost about $9,300

I do think its really ironic that my husband is in the sporting goods business and that he is a Carlson as well...I wonder what my Grandpa Carlson thinks about that.

Great memories. While in college I think we lived in an old house near that store. Off university ave.? Amazing- great blogging.
great post! isn't it so cool to get photographs and stories to go with them? i love documenting things like this because you know it will be a big deal later to have done it. very cool.
